They run!

If the video wasn't taken with a cellphone, you would be able to see the coils pretty clearly while it's spinning.

Anyways, the new hubcaps are all on the motors. They all work as they should now. Unfortunately, due to USLI with the MIT Rocket Team, DBF (oh, and classes...) demanding massive time commitments, this project has slowed wayyy down. It's very unfortunate, but that's life: never enough time to do everything you want to do.

Coils!!

The test rig setup.

That's all for now. I'll try to get more of it finished for the energy showcase coming up, but no guarantees.

  3. 4wd, 350 watt motors, SLA batteries, Regen brakes, 30-35mph, mountain-board. Design goal: out-perform the most expensive off the shelf skateboard in every way for less than its cost. (my build budget is 1000 bucks)

I've done a lot of site-searching and can shoot my findings your way. I've also got some questions about batteries and speed controllers. send me your e-mail, just too much to type in this box. Thanks.

sorry for the long link, but Electroskate has hub-motors (actually just "Motor", only 1WD) on their new 800W but i couldn't find anywhere to purchase just the motor...thought it would be fun to have 4 of those :) looks like you might be the first one to find out. Mine isn't going to have hub-motors, just some externals w/ chain-drive.
